Virtual Massage (from memory)

Virtual Massage (from memory)

I Hope You Paid Attention.  It is time for your Virtual Massage (from memory)

The virtual massage. It can be with you anywhere, anytime, when you need it. Most helpful during those frustrating times when a massage visit not possible (midnight, therapist’s days off, holidays, etc).

I have tried this, in desperation, several times over the years. I am always surprised at the realistic results I am able to achieve.

Take these steps to maximize the realism and success.

Step 1) Play relaxing music. Try to find an hour long playlist.

Step 2) Douse the lights.

Step 3) Keep scents within reach, to punctuate your massage.

Step 4) Place your body in the closest approximation of a typical massage visit.

  • Undress
  • Lie down between some sheets
  • Get comfortable using pillows/bolsters under knees/ankles
  • Make your ‘face-down’ head position comfortable.
    • For ease of breathing I suggest your lift your face, while face-down, with a rolled bath towel across your chest/shoulders (Rather than just rotating your face all the way to the left or right to breathe. Which puts a kink in your neck).
    • Also, add a rolled hand towel at your forehead to give more space for easy breathing.

Step 5) Slowly, step by step, image an entire massage. Avoid temptation to rush things. Image lots of repetitions until you feel actual results in each area.

Progression:

  • Back
  • Shoulders
  • Low back
  • Hips
  • Back of legs
  • (Turn over)
  • Feet
  • Front of legs
  • Arms/hands
  • Chest/abs
  • Neck
  • Scalp/face

Try it and tell me what you think.
